KALIMAT TRANSITIVE DAN INTRANSITIVE

Mengacu pada tipe objek, kata kerja terbagi menjadi dua, yakni transitive dan intransitive.

Transitive

Adalah kata kerja yang memiliki objek langsung.

Contoh:

- The shelf holds three books and a vase of flowers.

- The committee named a new chairperson.

- The child broke the plate.

Intransitive

Adalah kata kerja yang tidak memerlukan objek.

Contoh:

- The train from Montreal arrived four hours late.

- The sound of the choir carried through the cathedral.

- This plant has thrived on the south windowsill.
